Looks like what they sell as “steamers” in the north east. I’ve never actually had them. Always end up getting clams or mussels or oysters when it comes to bivalves

The best place to get steamers in NJ is called “Moby’s”. It’s the more casual outdoor deck spot connected to Bahr’s Landing in the Highlands. They serve them by the bucket with drawn butter and the steamer liquid. You pull the leathery membrane off the foot, wash the clam off in the briny steamer liquid, then dunk it in the butter before devouring. So much nostalgia for that place my dad used to take me as a kid.
