    Rare, borderline blue.
I’d smash that any day of the week, including today, having just had a rare cooked tomahawk 😁

Looks delicious, but far from medium rare

  3. OlDirtyDangler

Closer to blue but definitely nowhere near medium rare

  4. Major over reacting going on in these comments. That’s what we would call rare. I approve although I wish you got what you ordered. Rather under cooked than over cooked amirite?

Was it cool to the tongue. Not med rare in my opinion

  6. Madaghmire

Its not raw. Its a beautiful rare, but since thats not what you ordered, thats something of a problem

100% rare. I stopped asking for medium-rare at steakhouses exactly for this reason. They just can’t seem to get it right anymore and it comes out like this consistently.

That’s rare. I had the same experience at Longhorn in Sarasota. Ordered Bone on Rib Steak Medium Rare. Got rare, but it was sooo delicious, I didn’t send it back.

It’s rare, and if that is a filet, it is done right.

  10. I know I’m in the minority here, but yes that is rare, and yes that is too rare for me. I’ve had this happen to be before, usually at fancy steak places. I’ve learned I have to order one tier above what I want and it usually works.

Longhorn uses their own chart. I order med here to get med rare at other joints

Rare and raw aren’t the same thing. If it didn’t make it to 115° internal then it’s still just raw, and this doesn’t look like it made it that far since the muscle fibers look completely undenatured.

For people saying rare I’d love to see what their idea of blue is. There’s a good half inch of completely uncooked cold temp steak in the middle of that. It looks extremely well cooked *for that temp*, but it’s certainly not medium rare, and it’s more rare than I’d like “rare”.

If you think it’s rare, ask yourself if you think the middle of that steak is warmer than room temp.

Rare – same thing happened to me in my last visit to Longhorn.

When I asked the waitress to fix that, she said that so I want my medium rare to cook a bit longer. I told her nope – I want my steak to be medium rare not rare.

Well its definitely isn’t medium .-.

Rare and easy fix, ask for it to be cooked just a little bit lol better to be undercooked than overcooked

The problem is how browned it is on the outside vs how rare it is in the middle. They put a very cold, maybe even frozen steak on the grill. I e received steaks that looked like this but were COLD in the middle, which is simply not cooked properly no matter how it looks. Steaks should be the proper temp.

It’s pretty rare, just not a good cook on rare. Being such a thick cut, it coulda used more time I think. If this isn’t for you, try medium rare next time.

This sub gets a little more ridiculous every post like this I see. This manly badge of honor to say how rare we eat our steaks. That’s raw and uncooked in the middle, not rare
Edit: to add, yes rare steaks are that red through, but you can tell that was too cold in the middle when seared and didn’t get cooked.
