  1. Those desserts look ok.

    I doubt the bees are an intended ingredient and just doing the bee thing of being attracted to sugar.

    Not stupid food but would probably pass though due to sanitary concerns in any case.

  2. I read somewhere that countries like Thailand are allowed / encouraged to let the bees do this because it tells the customers that the food is really good and really sweet

    I personally don’t want my fudge to be spicy but yk to each their own

    OP is missing the plot on what stupid food actually is.

    If it’s bees I don’t care. If it’s flies hell no

  5. I don’t see this as stupid food, because the food looks great. It’s just a problem with the resulting inspect activity around the food in the environment.

    So the question is whether the insects are a vector for contamination.

    If those are honeybees or other pollinators, the risk of contamination should be next to zero.

    Are they pollinators, though, given their behavior? If not, that changes things.

    Because many species of wasps are omnivorous scavengers, they have been shown in research studies to have various medically significant bacterial pathogens on their bodies. Bees that are pollinators do not.

    Scavenging wasps may have made a recent meal of spoiled food or rotten meat before landing on those lovely desserts. They may be no less filthy than flies.

    Is that likely to lead to sickness in people eating those desserts if the bees or wasps or whatever they are are scavengers? No, but the situation should not be seen differently than if they were swarming with flies.

    They’re just giving out free bees there? Here I gotta build an entire landscape around just attracting them to my yard.

    …bees are very clean insects and do not lay eggs outside of their hives people. All they’re doing is going after the sugar in the dessert, which probably has some floral fragrance that they like.

  8. I’m sick of all the beeposts on this subreddit.

    Brings me out in hives, and honey…they sting.

  9. Bees are fine. Probably one of the cleanest. If its those flies….

  10. BernieTheDachshund

    Bees hang around flowers and stuff, so probably clean.

    Eh. If we can take their honey, they can take our desserts. Fair is fair.

  14. I remember one time I walked by a cotton candy stand and there was a swarm of bees all over it, they’ll go where the sugar goes unfortunately

  15. I would eat the food, but I would not be within earshot of those bees. Someone’s going to have to Uber eats that to me 6 blocks down.

    Na the Bees know what’s up, if you see them swarming you know it’s gonna SHMACK!

    There is an apple orchard in Ohio that sells the best donuts and it has bees in the case like this.

    Bee’s are super sanitary. I’d still eat them. Not the bee’s, the sweets lol

  19. Duckyfuzzfunandfeet

  20. Fluffy_History

  21. Bees = Fine

    Flies = Bad

    Mosquitos = Run

    Seagulls = Florida

  22. 16bitword

    I’m not worried about bees tbh. As long as they aren’t flies
