I’ve been testing the Ooni Halo Pro Spiral Mixer for almost a month now, and here’s my honest take.

Not gonna lie… I was a little bummed I wasn’t one of the first bakers to test it 😅 @oonihq , my invite must’ve gotten lost somewhere between bulk fermentation and final proof 🫠

Anyway—now that it’s finally in my kitchen, I’ve had time to really put it to work.

I’ve been using my KitchenAid 6 qt for years—it’s solid for mixing up to 2 kg of dough. For larger batches (up to 7 kg), I use my Mamy T7 twin‑arm mixer, which I love.

But the Halo Pro is my first spiral mixer—and now I totally get the hype.

✨ Here’s what stands out:
• 7.3 qt bowl—great for bigger home bakes
• Still compact enough to fit on my counter
• Removable bowl = easier cleanup
• Built-in light—helpful for checking dough development (and filming, of course 😄)
• Simple touchscreen controls
• Doesn’t heat up the dough much—big win for enriched doughs
• And it’s fast!
• For example, panettone first dough: KitchenAid takes ~20–24 min, Ooni does it in 13min
• Second dough: KitchenAid 50–55 min, Ooni gets it done in 35min

Ooni halo Pro really surprised me—in a good way.

P.S. In this reel, I’m making panettone with freeze-dried strawberries + milk chocolate 🍓🤍
Recipe is up on my website if you want to give it a try!
