Hello everyone!

Please forgive me if this kind of post is not allowed in this subreddit but I’m desperate to know the answer and I can’t find any information online.

I need to know if the the ingredient (mono diglycerides) in this product, the Pagani Potato Gnocchi is plant based or animal based, like is this ingredient derived from animals or plants in this specific product?

I hope someone can help me.
Thank you in advance!

I don’t know the answer but gnocchi should contain only potatoes, flour, and salt.

Your best bet would be to contact the manufacturer

…On the other hand, gnocchi are super simple to make if you have potatoes, flour and salt and some time to spare

They’re used in a lot of vegan recipes so plant based I guess.

The gnocchi are produced in Vimercate, near where I live, which means the production takes place in Italy under Italian regulations.
These regulations do not require either the seller of E471 to specify the origin of the source, nor the gnocchi manufacturer to declare it.
The purchase of E471 especially for a small company (not interested in labels such as vegan or halal) may be driven mainly by cost, and it is possible that different batches of E471 are mixed.
Moreover, since it is a small, family-run business, even calling and asking for information (besides the potential language barrier) may not be conclusive, as the manufacturer themselves is not required under Italian law to disclose the origin of mono- and diglycerides unless used in specific types of products.
Hence they are not safe for you, go next.
