First time grilling a ribeye on recently acquired Weber kettle.

Any tips/help would be appreciated 🙂

Newbie to charcoal grilling. Never cooked anything more than the occasional hotdog & burger on my dad’s setup.

Let steak rest at room temp for about 1.5 hr seasoned with salt & peppa
Heated grill to 450f
Slapped meat on
Closed lid for 3 mins ish
Flipped
Closed lid for another 3 mins ish
Got decent sear I think
Put on the other side of indirect heat to get to internal temp of 135-140f
Then rested for 10 mins and sliced up.

Lmk what you guys think

Doneness: excellent. Sear: needs improvement. Try a reverse sear next time.

How did it taste? Yes presentation is important. But did you and your family/friends like it? That’s where legends are born.
You know how when people really smile, the smile with their eyes. You can tell a genuine smile by the way their eyes partially squint.
Well you know, when you’ve made some damn good food by people, eyes and the look on their face.
I have made some ugly ass pork and brisket. I was even worried about some chicken I made one night. Not be undercooked but just didn’t look appealing. People still talk about how good that damn chicken was, lol
We are our toughest critics. Grill on and let your passion dazzle them. Cooking is an art. And they will think you can perform magic and voo-doo one plate at a time.

I’d eat it looks good. Might wanna sharpen that knife tho. Next time when you pull them off to rest put some garlic butter on top to finish. Trust

    Looks great inside
Rotate and flip more often to avoid grill marks and gave a consistent bark

  5. Try leaving the lid off the kettle while searing next time. Seems counter intuitive, but the coals get more air and will get much hotter this way. Lump charcoal could help get a higher temps for searing as well.

That said, still looks like a damn good cook, and I sure wouldn’t say no to that on my plate.

Looks like meat. No one knows meat better than me. It’s true. When I was a young boy, my dad gave me a small loan of 1 million pounds of meat. We loved meat. Fred would drink all the meat. I chewed it slowly and passionately. Great meat. Make Meat Great Again!!

  7. As an animal it’s barely alive. As a steak it’s barely cooked 😂 – Seriously though, 7/10. Work a bit more on the searing.
