A slice of Italy opened this week South Florida when the latest Eataly opened in Aventura, and is all “about eating Italian food, living the Italian way.”

Contrary to what many perceive Eataly to be, the 30,000 square feet store it’s so much more than your typical grocery store. Founder Oscar Farinetti, who opened the first store back in 2007 in Torino, Italy, wanted to create a school, a market, a table to gather around: a place to learn about food and, through food, about life, according to the company’s website.

In Aventura, visitors can enjoy two sit-down restaurants – La Pizza & La Pasta and Il Pastaio – several quick service counters where people can enjoy Roman-style pizza by the slice, authentic Italian espresso, sweet desserts at La Pasticceria and a wine shop featuring specially selected rare vintages as well as a and a dedicated cooking school.

For the Aventura opening, there is a busy 10-day schedule of events focused on “eat, shop, and learn” – the Italian art of living. To check out a guide to Eataly Aventura opening, click here.

The origins of Eataly’s brand – the use of two words – EAT and ITALY – started by aggregating several small companies Gragnano, Piedmont’s egg pasta, mineral water from the Marittime Alps, Veneto and Piedmont’s wines, Ponente Riviera Ligure oil, Piedmont’s fassone meat, and traditional Italian cheese and cold cuts.
