Falling into these Disney dining traps happens to the best of us…

Cinderella’s Royal Table

Disney World is FULL of traps, and while not all of them are necessarily bad, some can lead to costly lessons. We’re coving a major restaurant trap you should be aware of BEFORE your next Disney World trip!

Character dining restaurants can often be very expensive, but it can seem justifiable thanks to the allure of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But are they actually a ripoff?

The answer is no, but that doesn’t mean that these dining experiences fon’t have their flaws.

For starters, they’re generally expensive and don’t usually offer food quality to match. We don’t want to get that twisted as a blanket statement. There really are some FANTASTIC character dining spots, such as Tusker House in Animal Kingdom and Garden Grill in EPCOT. These two spots in particular usually impress us each time we visit. The food quality and the atmosphere definitely make a reservation worth it.

Hi Chip!

With that said, there are also several other character meal spots where you’re paying more for the experience rather than the food.

Chef Mickey’s comes to mind, and we also have some complaints about price versus quality at other-high end experiences at restaurants like Cinderella’s Royal Table and Be Our Guest Restaurant.

Don’t get it twisted — we think it’s really neat to eat at brilliantly themed restaurants where you can meet your favorite characters. But if you’re all about the eats, consider some other FANTASTIC Disney World options like Garden Grill and Tusker House instead.

If you’re trying for a unique dining experience WITHOUT characters, give restaurants like 50’s Prime Time Cafe and Whispering Canyon Cafe, which are both lively in their own right without needing character interactions!

Restaurant quality can vary time to time, so something we recommend right now might not be up there in quality a few years from now. Fortunately, we’re constantly reviewing and re-reviewing Disney World restaurants all the time — so stay tuned to keep up with the latest reviews!

Want a character meal? Be sure to book a reservation!

We wouldn’t blame you for trying these lackluster character dining restaurants at least once, as we’re firm believe in the saying “To each their own.” Just because we weren’t huge fans of the food doesn’t mean you won’t like it, necessarily.

We’ve eaten at every single Disney World restaurant — multiple times! We have our biases, but we also feel like dining is a subjective experience and you should try whatever your heart is telling you to try!
