Was tired of looking at the bare metal “hotel tray” knock box. Built a scorched wood enclosure for it.


First real attempt at woodworking. Thought it turned out pretty well. Next project will likely be a bean cellar with a similar finish.

For those curious, I used scrap pallet wood and a propane torch.

    For bonus points, make a lid, either with full coverage that you take off for knocking, or just the rim, for an even more finished look.

    A lid is definitely in the plans. First I would like to router the top edges a bit, so the metal part sits recessed in the box
