Doesn’t look half bad for a vacuum sealed salad lol. Does that really help keep it fresh?

Someone got a vacuum seal present and they’ll be damned if they don’t use it

I mean not much different than the bagged salad kits they have at grocery stores these days

I mean sure why not. I’m just upset he’s only eating lettuce? No onion, tomato, cheese, peppers, croutons? Just lettuce lol

This is a waste of money and creating waste for no reason. Tell him he can buy reusable containers that attached to the vacuum sealer if it has the nozzle attachment if he really wants to vacuum seal his salad, that way it won’t ruin the texture by smashing the lettuce. Or if he likes is smashed they even have reusable bags now you can seal and they open like a ziplock.
I’ll vacuum seal meat and anything I’m freezing long term in the bags like he used but if you’re using them for everyday things like this is it’s sometimes better just to waste a little food because it’s less expensive and better to throw away some leaves than plastic.

How long will a vacuum sealed salad keep compared to non vacuum? If you wash and dry the lettuce and place a folded up paper towel to absorb moisture would this extend the shelf life even more? This is a lot of work but isn’t the worst idea if you buy lettuce and have trouble eating it before it turns.

Considering how many half eaten bags of salad I throw away this is something I’d definitely consider

Wouldn’t it say fresher longer this way? Number one reason I rarely by veggies is they go bad so fast
