INGREDIENTS
10 ounces (284 g) tuna drained (preferably a good chunky tuna in olive oil), (usually 2 cans that are 5 oz each)
1 Tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil or butter
1 medium onion , or 2 shallots chopped
1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) salt
3 Tablespoons (45 ml) mayonnaise , or to personal taste
1 stalk celery , diced
2 Tablespoons (30 ml) diced pickles or relish (sweet or dill depending on your preference)
2 Tablespoons (30 ml) minced fresh dill , or 1 teaspoon dried dill
2 Tablespoons (30 ml) minced parsley
1 Tablespoon (15 ml) mustard , or more to taste
fresh cracked black pepper , to taste
1 medium lemon , zested
2 teaspoons (10 ml) fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon (5 ml) soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) hot sauce or Sriracha sauce – optional
1 jalapeno , sliced – optional

this is not a boring tuna salad everyone who’s tasted our tuna salad raves about the flavor the not so secret to our recipe is that we saute our onions yep that’s it rather than using raw onions we love cooking the onions to a nice caramel that’s what adds an amazing flavor aroma and texture then with all the other traditional components this tuna salad is super delicious but wait again another not so secret ingredient we add is a small splash of soy sauce the combination of umami savory and bright lemon zest makes this tuna salad extra extraordinary and that’s why we call it the untraditional tuna salad [Music] [Music] [Music] yeah yeah [Music]
