Baklava Recipe – Homemade Style
Ingredients for Dough:
2 cups Maida (All-purpose flour)
½ tsp Salt
1 tbsp Baking powder
3–4 tbsp Oil
1 cup Milk
4–5 tbsp Water
Method for Dough:
1. Mix maida, salt, and baking powder.
2. Add oil and mix well with the flour.
3. Gradually add milk and water. Knead into a soft dough.
4. Cover and let it rest for 10–15 minutes.
Dry Layering Mix:
2 tbsp Corn flour
2 tbsp Maida
(Mix both – this will be used while layering rotis)
Dry Fruit Filling:
Almonds
Cashews
Pistachios
½ tsp Cardamom (Elaichi) powder
1 tbsp Powdered sugar
(Grind all together and mix well)

Making the Baklava Sheets:
1. Divide the dough into small balls.
2. Roll each ball into thin rotis.
3. Sprinkle the cornflour-maida mix between each roti and layer 8 of them together.
4. Roll all 8 layered rotis into one large sheet.
5. Cut into tin size and gently separate the layers.

Assembling:
1. Grease a baking tin with melted butter.
2. Place 10 roti sheets one by one, brushing each with butter.
3. Spread the dry fruit filling evenly.
4. Cover with another 10 sheets, again brushing each with butter.
5. Brush melted butter on top.

Sugar Syrup:
1 cup Sugar
A few drops of Lemon juice
(Boil together to make a syrup. Let it cool.)

Final Steps:
1. Cut the baklava into desired shapes (diamond/square).
2. Add more melted butter on top.
3. Cook on low flame for 30–35 minutes or until golden and crispy.
4. Once done, pour the cooled sugar syrup on hot baklava.
5. Refrigerate for a few minutes to set.
