Our inboxes runneth over with an overabundance of press releases, but every once in a while, news about an upcoming restaurant opening manages to stop us in our tracks. Often, that’s because they’re either a riff on a place we already love, or because they’re bringing something completely new to a city’s dining scene. This summer, we’re looking forward to the first great late-night food spot in Oakland, a Philly izakaya that’s supposed to channel Japan in the ’80s, and a proper Italian restaurant from the team behind a very famous wine bar in Brooklyn.
