My bell peppers are turning black at the stem joints and on the first fruit. It doesn’t seem to be spreading, I don’t think. It’s been in the 50’s overnight this week and low 60s during the day, I’m in zone 10a. Is the temperature causing this, or do I need to treat for some sort of disease? This is my first year growing anything, thank you for your help 🥰💜

What kind of bell pepper are you growing?

I’ve seen this before and had a great crop. Its more concerning the peppers are turning black imo.

I’m in 10b and my peppers had the same marks. Were bitter and awful tasting. Following

Also, I did scratch a black spot on the stem and it’s not rotted

Totally normal. It happens when the fruits are still green but exposed to the sun. In my pepper, the black mark went away when the fruit ripened to red or yellow.

The black marks on the stems are normal and happen to a lot of chillies, you shouldn’t be concerned, but the black marks on the chillies is probably very bad. I’ve never seen it before on my chillies but I’ve heard that it can make the peppers taste bad.
