Allegrini palazzo della torre 2021
Dark ruby in glass a nose of black cherry, plum ,spice coffee, in the mouth great acidity that you want in an Italian red bright red cherry raspberry, pepper, good qpr very drinkable but it has enough going on to make you think, blend is corvina, corvinone, rondinella, sangiovese 14.00 abv 90 points

When I’m out of town visiting friends or family and get tapped to choose some bottles for dinner from total wine or something like that, I usually grab a bottle of Au Bon Climat Chardonnary and Palazzo della Torre. Cheap, consistent, and over deliver.
This is probably my favorite wine (I am young and poor so I haven’t tried anything expensive yet)
This is terrific wine at a reasonable price point and in constant rotation. I get a definite hint of black currant, like those little candies that come in those gold tins – but not sweet. Does not age well..
I had the 2020 recently, my notes:
Deep magenta to magenta rim
Chinese spices, Cloves, fudge, baked blackberries blueberries, anise
Powerful nose, dry cherries, blueberries, olives
Taste juicy dark fruits with a subtle raisin prune quality
Full body, velvety tannins and a long finish
medium+ acidity which when paired with a fatty wagyu beef bolognese was hidden, drinking it after dinner with no food it’s much more acidic
Surprised to see a generally positive reception to a Gallo wine in this sub.
They make some bomb amarone too. Good producer
