I’m so heated as I just got mine last week. I bet I could ask Thermoworks for an adjustment but I’m going to instead just “charge it to the game”

I love ThermoWorks as company, customer service is fantastic and their probes are super accurate but almost everyone of their products except the Thermapen One has serious design issues that just piss me off.

    **Signals**

For example the Signals. It has to be charged by its charger despite it being USB C and it has shit for battery life so you have run an extension cord. The Signals App is clearly some HTML/React/Javascript to native and not true native app. It has no like predictive logic. This does not require AI here. Just simply extrapolation of which I have to manually do by looking at the graph.

    **RFX**

The RFX has a charging case for its probes. They say the battery should last a year or something. I find it only last for a month. Luckily it is a single AAA. I’ll come back to batteries in a bit. Other than it again using the same app as the signals I think this is one of their better products.

    **Smoke X**

Because of my frustration of the Signals and because I just can’t get my iPhone notification to be loud enough for the app, concern with wifi/bluetooth I bought the Smoke X for longer smokes.

Here is the kicker. The fucking thing does not allow you to change the temperature alert remotely….. even the shitty ThermoPros can do this.

Which brings back up batteries. Why does every product have to have its own lithium rechargeable battery. Why can’t they just use regular batteries that I can recharge (e.g. AA, AAA). Lots of the other temp probes can do it. I assume it is because the power draw is too much for dealing with Wifi/bluetooth but it seems like it still could be fixed. Oh and btw the app. You think battery percentage would be very present. No. It is like in settings. So you have to click on each device and then it’s settings to find out how much battery is left.

Anyway I’m real hesitant to keep throwing money at ThermoWorks including this Billows. I keep wondering if I should have just switched to the Fireboard or something else years ago.
