How do I get mine lemon cucumbers to climb the fence?
They looked like the 2nd pic yesterday, I would just let them be but 4 feet away is my zucchini

You need to train them to climb. Use something like string (use bio degradable like twine) to tie them onto the fence

Yell at them daily. A few stern looks as well.

I tie a piece of cotton butcher’s twine to my trellis and loosely loop the other end around the base of the plant to give it a path to wind its way up to the trellis.

I check them and when they’re big enough to reach the wire I’ll move them to it and wind a tendril or two onto the wire. You can put a stick or string down as a bridge but I enjoy guiding them by hand because it’s sweet.

Stop using that plastic stuff to hold your plants up with. Use a twine. The plastic is not only environmentally bad but will damage your plants.

I just use their little stretchy arm vines to train them in the direction that’s needed. If they’re too weak or immature, jute rope/twine works well as others have mentioned for tying the main stalks to either stakes or trellis.

I have cukes too and I’ve just been taking those little feeler vine things and gently pulling them to the fence and kind of intertwining them into the fence. They just curl around and start growing up. Also tying the plant towards the fence w twine would help

I just go out every day and physically move them and I say “here you go little babies, grab the fence!” And slowly try to encourage the growth to climb

I loosely tied twine around the stem of my plant, then tied that to the trellis I have. I’ve done this a couple times now, gradually bringing the plant to the fence as it gets big enough, and now it’s just about to actually reach the fence to grab on itself

I use butterfly style hair clips to secure mine to bamboo poles. The tendrils are never strong enough on their own…

Lemon cucumbers? I’m so intrigued.

I got some clips for my tomatoes. That I use. I reuse them until I can’t anymore. Got them off of Amazon

Literally shove the vines in the fence. They will do the rest

I just weave them in once or twice and they just do it.

I wanted my cucumber to grow through my deck railing. Stick the end into a chain link, let it grow a couple days then stick it through again where you want it to go.
