Wife was gifted this 30 year old bottle of wine. Is it suppose to have this stuff floating in it?

Just sediment from the cork. Stand it upright for at least a day before you open it. That will be an exquisite drink.

That’s just a bit of tartrates, very normal sediment (well, precipitate, it’s not settled …), completely harmless.
Great bottle as well! Very fun, almost certainly very very tasty!

No worries. Stand it up for a couple days then handle it carefully when pulling the cork and pouring. Won’t harm you, just a little creepy to have grit while enjoying the amazing texture of aged Sauternes.

Nice bottle! The floaties are normal sediment typically found in these bottles. Before serving I like to set them upright for a while so it settles at the bottom and it’s easier to pour off of but other people probably have better methods.
Older Sauternes is something special and that bottle could sit for quite a while and still be enjoyable. Although I bet it’s pretty tasty now

She wants you gone. JK that’s normal.

A 30 year old bottle of Sauternes is such a weird gift to give someone who isn’t a wine nerd

That bottle should be outrageous! What a great gift.
The fact you have a 750ml rather than 375 means it will age more slowly than some of these notes.
Have it with some mild blue cheese or some foie gras (!) or a creme caramel with fruit desert for some fireworks.

Great wine. Sauternes are a little sweet, but go surprisingly well with a great variety of food. That is quite a good one. They can age for a long time. Not sure what might be floating in it.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but it’s a bit weird to imagine 1995 being 30 years ago! Sheesh!

Had the 2003 a few months ago and it was unbelievable. That wine should be bananas

It’s the OPs toenail filings

Great color for a 30yo Sauternes. Drink it up, honey, nutty, with an acidic finish. I’m jealous
YnotROI0202
Drink with caution.

Nope, totally poisonous. Please send it to me for proper disposal.
