Miceli & Sensat, an olive oil producer based in Italy, has been recognized at the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, securing two Gold Awards for their organic extra virgin olive oils (EVOOs). The competition, known for its rigorous standards, highlighted the quality of Miceli & Sensat’s products.
The award-winning entries from Miceli & Sensat include ‘U’Ciuri’, which received a Gold Award in the Organic category. This EVOO is made from the Nocellara del Belice cultivar and is part of the IGP Sicilia selection that the company curates annually.
Another Gold Award was given to ‘Verde’, an organic EVOO made from the Cerasuola cultivar. ‘Verde’ is noted for its fresh, vegetal aromas, which include hints of green almonds, lettuce, celery, and unripe bananas.
Miceli & Sensat’s olive grove spans 115 hectares and includes 46,000 olive trees of five different varieties: Nocellara del Belice, Biancolilla, Cerasuola, Arbequina, and Picual. The company processes its olives within two hours of harvesting in its own mill to maintain high organoleptic qualities. The EVOOs are stored in a controlled environment with noble gases to preserve their quality.
The World Olive Oil Competition is a prestigious event that recognizes excellence in olive oil production globally. Miceli & Sensat’s achievements at the NYIOOC underscore the company’s commitment to producing high-quality organic olive oils.
The winning brands are presented in the Official Guide and the Olive Oil Times World Ranking.
