If it were me, I would pick all but the two that are mostly green. Then that energy can be rerouted to new growth or other blooms/fruit. If not, the fruit that is ripe will be rotten by the time the two green ones are ready. Great job!!!

No, do not wait. The red ones will be mush by the time the others are ripe.

I always pick mine as soon as they start to blush. Much less chance of a critter eating them before I do

Just do a search. I cannot possibly type in the response to this again.

No. When they are “yink” (yellow and pink), pick and let ripen on the kitchen counter.

    Eat those red ones?

    What’s for dinner? BLTs!

FYI, cherry tomatoes should be picked ripe, when they easily separate from the stem. The advice to pick at breaker stage is better for large tomatoes

As soon as mine start to change color I pick them. Otherwise, the deer, squirrel and birds will take care of them for me

I appear to be in the minority, which is shocking to me.

I wait until they are ripe. That’s why I started growing my own tomatoes.
I’ve let mine ripen off the vine and ripen on the vine. There is no comparison. Vine ripe is better. And my terrier makes sure squirrels and rabbits don’t come anywhere near our garden. So I don’t have any issues leaving things on the vine to ripen.

And every time I say this, someone goes on some rant about how I’m wrong blah blah blah. (So please nobody bother….I block anyone who does that).

No, pick the ripe ones or they’ll over ripen. Which some of these seem to be.

    Harvest! Harvest! Harvest!

Once they start to turn a little red, there’s no need to leave them on the vine any longer.

I feel like it’s personal preference and also dependant on environment. Of course, they taste 💯 fully vine ripened but if you live anywhere near nature, you run the risk of critters. Also, too much sun can make them soft and mealy (like the dangerous kind of heat) so if you have some 5s and it’s 100 degrees outside, pick them. The plant is struggling hard enough to conserve anyways at this point. When there is an overabundance of rain, they will start to Crack from the top. While some is normal, when it’s days on end of torrential rain, it’s better to pick the 5s to save some flavor. There’s just alot that has always gone into it for me. At one point, I was growing strictly heirlooms for selling at markets so it became an art 😂. I also live in Georgia so we have had torrential rain AND dangerous heat in the last 2-3 weeks. The weather is weird here. IYKYK

Disclaimer- i have only ever grown heirlooms so not sure how hybrids are at certain stages.

Not yet but everything is coming along…the only problem I have is I am addicted to fried green tomatoes so I wind up harvesting these first 😖
