As the name mentions, I started baking cakes for Cakes4kids, which serves underserved youth. They work with case workers in your area so that you can bake for kids that are victims of abuse, in shelters, homeless, etc. and otherwise wouldn’t be able to receive a birthday or celebration cake. As a baker I love making others happy with my goods, but this goes above and beyond that to make their day more special. This organization touched my heart deeply when I learned about it and I am truly honored to volunteer my services. I hope the cakes I make for these kids make their day better and their birthday memorable.
If you have a Cakes4kids in your area, I recommend joining, and if not, you can always start your own local chapter!

This is so wonderful! We don’t have a chapter, but I’ll look into what it takes to get one started. My free time is limited for getting a program up and running, but I used to work in child welfare, so I know a lot of people who have a passion for causes like this who might be able to help!

That is a beautiful cake and even more beautiful idea! I used to do something like it for a seniors home a while back. I will def explore if there is anything like it in my city.

I do this too! We dont have a chapter of Cakes4kids where I am, but we do have For Goodness Cakes, if anyone is looking for another opportunity like this. It’s so rewarding to make a big fancy indulgent cake for a child who wouldn’t get one otherwise. My last one was an ice cream cake for a child who has just entered into foster care. That broke my heart, so I tried to make him the coolest cake I could to make his day special.
