One of the more exciting new producers from South Africa I've come across in a minute. Samantha Suddens making wild flor-centric wines out of Paardeberg. Chenin Blanc given the flor treatment, this No.3 release coming from a solera of 2020, '21, '22 in equal parts.

WIld on the nose, honeyed and nutty, so dense-feeling with the flor-influence only peeking out around the edges. Drinking is another thing entirely, bruised apples and such an intense oily palate. There's grilled nuts and salted pastries, some classic Chenin waxiness and fino-esque drive. Tense and in balance. I was expecting something Jura leaning but this reminds me more of a less ripe Nicolas Joly or some of Equipo Navazos' single Bota Amontillados. Such a cool expression of what Swartland Chenin can do, definitely a label to keep an eye on (hear the flor Rose is out of this world too!).
