growing indeterminate tomatoes let’s talk pruning indeterminate tomatoes are the tomatoes that are going to keep growing all season long as long as they’re well taken care of obviously fertilizer is important Sunshine adequate water and airflow that’s where pruning comes in on our farm we like to prune all the lower leaves leaving just one single liter on a tomato plant the leader is the vine that’s putting off the fruit new leaders grow by putting out something called a sucker you can find suckers in between a branch and the stem when I’m pruning tomatoes I start at the lowest leaves and clip them off branch has a sucker I make sure to clip the sucker too now that all of my lower leaves are trimmed I can come back in and I can get the suckers you can even wait till your suckers are a little bigger clip them put them in water and you actually have a whole nother tomato plant now we’ve taken our plants from bushy to nice and pruned with a lot of airflow to prevent fungus and disease

Seen so many videos now and so confused. Some say prune all suckers and some say dont prune all suckers. Im just going to not prune anything and hope for the best 😢
You pruning them tomatoes to death sweetheart. Don’t cut suckers!
😂 you’re literally cutting off your tomatoes
I feel like a bit bushier plant is better. I trim suckers but not the whole branch. They still need leaves to produce energy and shade fruit. Never have seen a huge difference in my yield.
Its imporant she says ☺️
I don’t believe this applies to cherry tomatoes at all
Does this apply to any type of tomato like tomatillos
Thank you for the info.
Over prune big time in my opinion

Interesting the way you have the plant woven into the twine.
Concise and informative, thank you!
I will trim the branches close to the ground but that's all. She is over trimming.
To prune or not to prune: it depends on a few factors. I mulch with marsh hay (prevents water splashing from the soil), so I only prune the leaves about 6" from the mulch/soil line. I also grow my tomatoes in 20 gallon grow bags, so for cherry tomatoes I prune until I have about 12 leader vines, and for beefsteak I prune until I have about 5 leader vines.
dont do follow those advies. Pure trash advices and she has no clue what she is doing
Lots of hair
I think in the zone I live in (4) in the northeast I'd probably leave the suckers just because our season is shorter than most, but if I were in a warmer climate definitely!! ❤️😊
I want those shears. They look great
This lady apparently doesn’t know anything about growing vegetables. This was a deceiving video and will cause your tomatoes to make less or die. They need most all their leaves.
I used to do it ypur way
BUT
Try letting several suckers grow and tie them up
GUARANTEE youl get 4 TIMES MORE
Nice
Studies show pruning to 2 leaders produces more tomatoes.
And very little tomato count 🤦🏽♀️
Can you clone the suckers?
The tomatoes already have airflow, there is no need to cut off 70 percent of their foliage! All this does is stress them out and stunt their growth turning a maybe 90 day harvest time into 120 for them to recover from your overzealous pruning! Never, never prune tomato leaves unless they are touching the ground a lot and can contract disease
Yeah I agree on the people who are saying you’re pruning too much leaves, leaves are your fabrics (source) of your sugars! You actually need them well a certain amount but not that less. Even though a tomato plant grows faster, you will still need those leaves to accumulate assimilates for the plant😊
I also heard sucker branch are ones to grow fruits. No fruits if suckers are out. ???
Do this with cannabis and see what happens
I have seen some folks snip the branch below the sucker, but leave the sucker behind.
I leave the suckers on and i get am insane amount of tomatoes.
There's so many 😭😭♥️
For 200 years, no one pruned a tomato plant. It is 100% unnecessary.
My suckers produce fruit, why would i prune them?
How about growing in a pot in a apartment
Ohmygosh 😮😮😮thank you!!! I have a mess in my with all the leafs so long! I’m doing this soon
the crossover between gardening is amazing, this is exactly how to build a sea of green
I used to do this agressive pruning but production was low so do less agressive pruning leaving 2 or 3 producing stems. Also lower branches and suckers are trimmed to help minimize splash of soil where fungus is present. Just want to comment that degree of prunning effects production. Nice short video.
love to see more tips like this….
We only have 3 months growing season.
I've tried both ways for 30 years pruning heavy pruning no pruning. I really haven't seen much difference.
Either way. Accept for a few on the very bottom to help with funguses and diseases. I get more tomatoes having multiple leaders.
