Uchi Miami. $350pp. Everything was really tasty but it’s definitely a trendy fashionable spot that does some fushion tweaks. Tasty but definitely not the go-to if you wanted traditional sushi.

$350/person is crazy. It looked really amazing but for 350?

Uchi advertises themselves as fusion sushi. The location in Houston says it on the sign.
I always tell people to try another place if they want traditional.

🎶At a sushi restaurant where you don’t like the food, in the back of the bathroom… sushi glory hole! 🎶
Shoulda hit that SGH!

Assuming that you photographed everything that was part of the omakase.
Assuming that everything in the photos was for 2 people.
Assuming that the $350 didn’t include anything to drink.
Then, yes, $350 pp in Miami seems like a bit much. I’d be stopping at McDonald’s afterwards.
How were the desserts? As much as I love sushi, I’ve never had a good dessert in a sushi restaurant.

Looks amazing and for a high end Miami spot I’m not convinced it’s insanely priced. Max of the high end but not really unreasonable given the location.

First mistake was considering Uchi a sushi restaurant. It’s an americanized upscale izakaya.

This looks like a mini-omakase smashed together with another small tasting menu (steak, oysters, some sort of tartare, desserts?)

When I went to uchi, I ate similarly, but it was more like $150 a person. The waiter tried to sell me on the premium omakase and I just said nope I will order everything myself. Uchi is super tasty, but not my favorite place for omakase.

If you want amazing Omakase go to a Japanese chef.

Virtually every omakase is overpriced outside of Japan

Uchi happy hour is the move

They’re skimping SUPER hard on the fish it seems.

Is that whole sliced onion, mint, basil, and cilantro on picture three???

I love the “this is way over priced if you want traditional sushi” bit.

I hate what Uchi has become. I use to frequent it in its early days in Austin and it was awesome!

That looks like shit dude. Before when Japanese food wasn’t ubiquitous, a lot of people could value that at $350 per person. But that’s everywhere now. The market is saturated.

Everytime I do a tasting menu I end up leaving hungry. Will get a double double from in n out on way home and that will be the highlight.

Holy hell, our og Uchi in Texas isn’t even that expensive

$350 is way more than almost any spot in Japan too. Crazy.
