Hi everyone, today we’re making homemade
air fryer breaded pickles spears. It’s actually easier than you think
to make fried pickles at home and they are perfect for snacking on
and enjoying during the big game. To make this recipe you’ll need:
four dill pickles, 1/4 cup of flour, 2 eggs, 2/3 of a cup of unseasoned
breadcrumbs, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon
of black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon of paprika, 1/8 of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper –
this is optional – and some oil spray. [music] First, cut the pickles into quarters lengthwise. [music] Then pat them dry. This
makes them easier to bread. [music] Next, prepare the breading station. Place the flour on one plate or bowl. [music] The cracked and whisked egg in another. [music] And the breadcrumbs onto another one. Now add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper to the
breadcrumbs and mix them well. Grab one pickle spear and dip it into
the flour until it’s fully coated. Next, dip the pickle into the whisked egg mixture and roll it around until the flower
layer is fully coated in the egg. Lift the pickle spear, let
the excess egg drip off, and then dip it into the breadcrumbs
until it is completely coated. Then place the coated pickle spear on a clean plate and repeat these steps until
all the pickle spears are breaded. You can choose to bread one pickle
at a time through each station or you can add all the pickle spears to
the bowl at once – it’s up to you. Just make sure to rinse and dry your hands after every few pickles so that you don’t
get excess breadcrumbs everywhere. While still on the plate,
spray the breaded pickles with oil spray. This helps them
to get crispy in the air fryer. Now preheat the air fryer
to 380 degrees Fahrenheit. When the air fryer is hot,
add the breaded pickles. There should be some space between them
so that they can cook and crisp evenly. If you have a large air fryer
you may be able to cook all the pickles at once – like we did here.
Otherwise, cook them in two batches. Air fry the breaded pickle spears at 380
degrees Fahrenheit for about 6 minutes, then flip them over. You can spray the other side
of the pickle with more oil. Cook the pickles for another 3 to 4
minutes until golden brown on the outside. Since every air fryer is different, the
exact cooking time can vary slightly. When done, remove the crispy pickles from the air fryer and serve them right away
with a dipping sauce of your choice. And that’s it! You can find the written version
