Total: $20.02 Location: CA, USA
4 cans of diced tomatoes
2 cans of tuna in water
2 lbs of whole carrots
a bag of elbow macaroni
2 round tomatoes
3 cucumbers
head of iceburg lettuce
loaf of white bread
1 bunch of cilantro
2 yellow onions
1 lb of thinly sliced chicken breast
1 lb of bananas
For 2 people! I already have pinto beans, white rice, lentils, and some other pasta options in the pantry
some eggs and condiments in the fridge as well.
my budget was $24 😱
I tried to grab things that were $1 or less! Which there was surprisingly many options. The bread, carrots, and chicken were the only exception all ranging from $1.30-$6.50
Just wanted to give an example of what items to choose to remain on a budget. Still being able to get meats, produce and some carbs.
Potential meals with these items:
Carrot and Tomato soup ! (carrots, canned diced tomatoes, onion, elbow pasta)
Grilled Chicken Sandwiches (white bread, chicken, tomato, lettuce, cucumber)
Tuna Pasta Salad (elbow pasta, tuna, cucumber, tomato)
Pollo de Tomate (chicken, yellow onion, carrots, diced tomatoes, cilantro)
Chicken Salad (chicken, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, carrot)
Carrot Fries (carrots baked in oven tossed in oil/seasonings)
Tuna Sandwich (tuna, white bread, lettuce, tomato, cucumber)
Chicken Tomato Pasta (elbow pasta, diced tomatoes, chicken, yellow onion, cilantro)
