My dad passed away in April of this year, and I've been scared to touch the grill since his passing. I helped him out a lot, but I don't really know what I'm doing myself. This is my first attempt; a slow, indirect cook of some pork belly skewers from my work. But I'm definitely anxious to dive in and truly grill.
Any tips or advice would be great, just for grilling in general and the future of being the designated griller. Thanks.

Sorry for your loss.
But, nice! I’ve started drinking NA beer when I BBQ. I love to drink beer when I BBQ but I drink way too fast lol Sun, beer and BBQ is the best! But I can’t handle so much beer anymore.
My condolences, I’m sure he’s looking down on you and smiling for your effort. Enjoy yourself…Peace
Dude. That looks good.
And, a great way to honor your pops. Stay strong, grill on!!!
I’m so sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss. Taking on the mantle is not a bad thing. 💙
He would be giving you a nod for being smart about keeping the grill clean.
You’re doing the right thing!
Hell yeah brother
Condolences. My dad passed away a few years back, and I learned all my grilling from watching him. Best advice is to just start grilling anything anytime you can! You’ll burn things and undercook things every now and then, but it will happen less the more you cook with the grill and learn to get the temperature right. you’ll get the hang of it!
Sorry for your loss Bro, keep doing the things that give you good memories of him.
Your dad would be proud of you. He probably learned through trial and error like most of us. He may not be with you now but he has a buch of strangers on the internet helping him out now.
My best advice is to get a good thermometer if you don’t have one already. You need to test temperatures until you get a feel for how fast things cook.
Honorable role. Salute.
The grill knows if you are crushing non alcoholic beer so ditch those sober carpenters. Otherwise grill straight from the heart.
Wear it with pride.
You know he’s grilling along side you always will be
