So jealous! If I can find any in the farmers market at all, they always cost an arm and a leg.

I love sour cherries! One of the bakeries I used to work at would make large batches of pie filling with a steam kettle. I would go take a couple frozen cherries from the pot to eat before they cooked. Delicious!

You lucky SOB. I had one growing up and the pies and cobblers were they best. Enjoy, also see if you got any neighbors that have a rhubarb “problem” to pair it up.

I’ve never seen a sour cherry tree in US, as Persians, we love sour cherries. From sour cherry jam to sour cherry rice. May I ask where your friend lives and how did he acquire that?

The house I grew up in had a high-producing sour cherry tree. They tasted sweet and tart to me. Every summer, I’d eat them right off the tree. My parents sold the house about two years ago. I miss it.

They are nice to have on hand! I have a sour cherry tree and a homemade sour cherry pie sitting on my counter (see below). I played 1970s and 80s rock music as I pitted mine. So many great recipes that use them!

What are some good ways to enjoy sour cherries? Do you sweeten them?
I didn’t know there was an actual tool for pitting cherries. Thank you internet stranger.
Lucky you!!! Sour cherries make the best pie & jam.

If you drink, consider making cherry bounce!
