Are these really cayennes? I’ve never had them grow this big…

Were they a specific cultivar of cayennes?

  2. One of my cayenne’s is doing that this year. They close to triple the size of the rest.

There are at least 30-50 different cultivars of cayenne pepper with varying traits and more being bred every year.

Looks similar to the Hot Portugals I grew last summer – they were super tasty. Then again there are a billion varieties and I’ve only grown a small handful. Either way they look like they will be delish! I’d suggest cutting into rings and using a grilled sausage on a bun as a pepper to mouth delivery vehicle.

A local nursery near me was selling “jurassic cayennes” plants that had fruit looking close to this size.
