We've all been there, the beautifully maintained garden when we are well, and then life hits (work, family, depression)
That horrible guilt every time we look out and see our hard work swallowed up by weeds and half (mostly) Dead.
Please invest in plants that will give you something even if you weren't able to invest anything into the that season/year.
I planned 4 Tifblue Blueberry bushes in 2021.
My tomatoes are overrun with weeds, my cucumbers died, I can't even see the pepper plants I put down.
But this is my third Blueberry harvest in 3 weeks- 10lb total. And I'm sure I have another 10lb still to ripen.
My tomatoes might be dying but at least I'll get joy out of my Blueberries. (And my husband gets Blueberry Jam)

That is such great advice! I am planning on planting as many berry bushes in my yard as I can. I never thought of it in that way though ❤️☺️ they will hopefully be kind to me even if I’m not kind to myself lol
Nice! Do you have a picture of the bushes? Just planted my first blueberry this spring
I put in 3 blueberry bushes this year. Two are doing well, but the third is struggling. I’m trying to grow more food.
I started a hugelkultur bed this spring, 10′ x 20′, that I’m planting berry bushes in this fall. As someone who is prone to depression, this makes me smile. Thanks for sharing.
i somehow managed to germinate 38 blueberry seeds from a bag of wild blueberries from the grocery store! I know it will be a while before they are even big enough to transplant, and even longer before fruiting; but still just so amazed and excited that they managed to germinate. 5 of the 38 have already sprouted too!
go blueberries! great advice!
also fuck depression! ♥
((((hugs))) I understand completely. I took up gardening and a focus on native plants/converting lawn as a way to keep myself centered and focused on positive things.
