It's sardine season in our little coastal town. I bought 1.5 kg for just $4. I’m from the Philippines. Hehe. I fried some in olive oil, added just salt and pepper, and had it as a snack. Our cats loved it too! Super fresh and yummy.

I’m happy for you but I think I’d rather eat literal staples. lol. I’m not a picky eater at all but sardines are one of the few foods I don’t like.

Sardines, mackerel, tinned trout and salmon are all on my shelf for days when I know I’ll probably need something quick, and want to take a break from protein shakes. But man, I miss crackers when I eat sardines. I’m playing around with using cheese chips instead.

Also, I love tinned smoked oysters. I’ll gobble up a can of those with a little sriracha before you know it.

I found a bunch of mackerel, salmon, kipper snacks, and sardines at Dollar Tree yesterday. Felt like a great deal, since they’re usually twice as much as the tuna.

I love sardines although I can only get tinned ones. Your fried ones look and sound wonderful, OP.

Back in the good ole days I remember my mom always cooking sardines for my dad in a sauce. I never liked them but I’m willing to give it another shot. Do tell how y’all cook yours though. I see you fried yours anything else u do before u fry?

  6. Mmmm deepfried “tuloy”. Where’s the head? It’s the crispiest part.

That looks delicious. I’ve only ever had canned sardines, which I like, but they’re just so salty and probably full of preservatives.

Do you just get a bag of whole fishes, chop the head off and fry it? Or is there more to it?

I get the de-headed ones in a can & put em in 1 layer in a Pyrex dish with truffle oil & salt & cook at 350 for 30 mins. Seems to make the texture more palatable to me bc the bones don’t have a crunch after that. They make my glucose numbers so good & help have something on my stomach & have tons of protein & omega 3’s for my cranium:)

I can’t stand bones of any kind. Bones in fish completely turn me off. I hate that I’m like this, but I just can’t help it.

  10. I throw mine (or anchovies) in the air fryer too. Killer
