Whoever said if you buy a pepper plant from a nursery with multiple stalks to cut off all but one was full of doo doo. Just picked my 300th beautiful jalapeño from this (now 5’) “Home Depot special” that had 3 stalks and I tried leaving this one alone. 😊🔥

Usually that is recommended if they will be growing in pots. In a bed they have alot more room to grow
I just let mine grow wild. Wind blows them over and a new stalk becomes the main. They just grow until the bed is filled and look like yours. I get 2lbs per week from 4 plants.
I think the advice is to separate the roots and you have a bonus plant.
5′ if you include the height of the bed, right?
But that is impressive and also goes to show you that most gardening info is either bunk or not valid in every situation. Experiment.
