I use a lot more charcoal and have to lift mine off each time. My idea back then was proof of theory but just worked so well I never redesigned it and have been using it for probably 8 years now.

Heat rises, so wouldn’t it be better to place the briquettes below the meat?

Idea is fun, but I can see the ash dropping right next to the meat. Fair chance it ends up on it as well. I’m not really that picky about carbon, but why add it when it isn’t necessary?
