The answer is no. This happened after two days of non-stop rain. Water can and does get around the "seal."

Had the same thing happened to me once, I now store in the bin and inside my garage/house
Was shitty to lose 20+ pounds of pellets

Had the same thing happen! Unfortunately the pellets were in my grill…I am an expert at taking my grill apart now, mainly because I didn’t learn my lesson the first (or 4th) time!

  3. I have a big pet food container with the angled spin on lid. Lives outside and has never leaked in years of rain and snow. Highly recommend.

Now you know, always keep the container out of the rain.

I use old pool chemical containers. If they can keep chlorine tabs dry, they can definitely keep pellets dry.

Lowe’s 5 gallon bucket with lid is waterproof, though. I’ve had mine outside in the elements for like 5 years now without issue

Personally use a 5 gallon bucket with a spin seal lid like https://www.homedepot.com/p/Bucket-Companion-5-gal-Black-Paint-Bucket-Lid-LD5GRLBK006/303808738?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&gStoreCode=2763&gQT=1

Then I use an animal feed scooper that I just leave in it. Many ways to achieve the same effect though.

What kind of animal stores their pellets outside at all? Mine stay in my garage. They’re still in an outside air space… but under roof. Never had an issue.

I’ve been using empty and cleaned 5 gallon paint jugs with lids for 10 years, only had an issue once when I didn’t push the lid down hard enough. Can often be found at construction sites

  10. Was water actively falling on it?

I have the same container outside, under my patio. No issues
