I grilled steak for the first time, normally I’ll use a cast iron. I should’ve done my research and known to use indirect heat haha. Got these chunky ass steaks from Costco, I under-seasoned them too (in my defense since I got Covid earlier this year my taste for salt is way off and hate to oversalt things for my family), seared 5 minutes each side, then closed the lid…just to see the thing ON FIRE 3 minutes later haha. My probe thermometer busted too, so I had to use my hand held, on the bright side I can now get a wireless probe thermometer lol. It was a bad grill day honestly. Luckily they were still somewhat saved, I believe I pulled one at 135. Made a chimichurri too, can’t complain. Lesson learned

Is that a propane grill? Huh, how did you even manage that much of a flareup? Are those just strip steaks?

You need to clean out the pan under the burners immediately. Fire is one thing but what you have is a home insurance claim brewing.

When I got covid I totally lost taste and smell and haven’t quite been the same since

There is no way in hell that those flames pictured on a gas grill are producing clean burning flames without black smoke.

Glad you got lucky. How do you make your chimichurri?

  6. Call the fire dept!!! Need to do a deep clean on your grill

Looks absolutely delicious and the meat looks like a medium rare when you zoom in you can see the pink great job

  8. I will say that despite the previous posts on grill safety, that first pic looks like one hell of an advertisement for some awesome steaks 👍

  9. Did you summon hellfire!? Lol! glad it worked out though

That happened to me last week, I didn’t even know I had to clean the bottom of the grill. It’s a propane grill as well.

  11. OMG I did this last summer 😂 Cooking 3 (apparently super fatty) strip steaks, cooked for a few, flipped, go inside for a minute and come back out to a raging inferno!

I was able to rescue the steaks, had to use a fire extinguisher on the grill and it partially melted the propane hose which could been real bad.

Swear I have never seen strip steaks make the grill flare up like that.

That’s called black and blue. Charred on outside and rare in middle. I hate to say good job but your grill needs a good cleaning!

Everyone commenting on the fire is right that it isn’t good, obviously, but lest we fail to acknowledge that it looks totally badass.

I do appreciate that you stopped to take a picture to marvel at the beauty of it 😜
