I never bought hot sauce in my life until 2 weeks ago. I love them so far but I just realized the salt content is too high for my liking. How much salt is in your typical homemade hot sauce? I bought these to try them out and wanted something different from my hot honey I make but not the salt content 😭

like 1tspn per 500mL of liquid, is that bad?

The sodium content on those isn’t even high. Do you have a medical condition that requires you to lower your sodium intake?

I use a teaspoon for every 5, 5oz bottles. So that’s a teaspoon for every 25oz. Or in metric, 1 teaspoon every 740ml. If it is a fermented sauce, I have no idea. I usually don’t add any more after the ferment.

I used 3 g in 0.5 liters which is like 0.6% weight per volume

Chilli powder is an alternative to adding flavor w/out a bunch of salt
