Still too dang expensive when it’ll be gray in two months and have holes in a year….

  1. I’ve had mine for about 5 years and it is neither gray nor does it have holes

Most garbage cover ever. TBH I stopped using one after a yr. It’s been a good 2-3yrs out door. Harsh winters of Midwest. Holds up fine.

  3. I don’t understand the hate. I had mine for 10 years before I had to throw away. Have they drop in quality that much?

  4. sewer_pickles

There are some good quality covers on Amazon that work just as well. You just don’t get the Kamado name on it. [Here’s the one I bought](https://a.co/d/dhlnjCY).

I originally bought the Kamado version. It faded and started falling apart within a year. The one that I got from Amazon has held up two years so far without any issues.

  5. Mine is on year 2 and still in close to new shape and color. Ill keep a closer eye on it.

    Edit: funny typo

  6. psychoholica

Several years, Lots of intense direct sun and still black and perfect.

  7. NegativePaint

Mine is 9 years old. Still black. No holes. Only issue is the rubber on the top handle deteriorated.

I’ll have to check my local Lowe’s. That price is a steal.

  8. Important-Panda-7503

Yup this lasts. I have mine for 5 years +

  9. I think it might be the newer ones, they must have changed something.

I got mine in May and it’s already going grey.

  10. ruthemook

Hang on is that not the point? Mine looks shite but what’s under the cover still looks brand new. Am 4 years in and live in a very wet country so this yoke has more than served me well.

  11. RedditandFogeddit

Why cover it? Mine’s been fine though ice storms, snow and heat domes. It’s about five years old.

  12. 4 months I’ve had mine. One panel is near purple from sun bleaching. I’m in the uk as well!! We don’t get that much sun!!

  13. Ya my BJ3 cover is graying and its barely 3 months old. It stays out in the sun a lot. The worst is the red stripe. Its pink now

  14. lucky__potato

Mine was trash too. I now use a tarpaulin and a band to fasten it.

  15. Crewsader66

Had mine for about 4-5 years and is super gray and beginning to fall apart, while my Blackstone brand cover still looks brand new.

  16. Mithrielsc2

Mine looked gray after couple of months, for the rest still OK though

  17. Has anyone tried treating with a good weather & UV proofing solution?

I’m a new owner, think I’ll try a good coating of fabsil and see how my cover holds up.

  18. Several-Signature583

3 years in and mine is in great condition. It’s on a shaded patio so that may make a difference

  19. Ape_Escape_Economy

Mines in direct sunlight for about two years now.

Color is completely grey but no holes.

  20. Environmental_Law767

So what? At that price buy to and you’re good for five years.

I’m in the south and the area my grill sits in gets plenty of sun. However, my cover has not grayed out or have any tears in it and over 2 1/2 years of usage.

  22. gostrader

Mine was trash after 2 years. Got them to give me a new one for free

  23. SpectatorRacing

Mine faded to ugly the first summer, but is still intact, looks like crap next to my covered Weber grill which somehow is made with special magic materials that don’t fade in the sun,

  24. Siucra_Ray

Grey, but no holes, within a year. Very questionable UV resistance seeing as I’m located in cloudy Ireland and store it indoors during the winter.

    Great price though!

I’ve got a question, I should also note that I’m too lazy to read all the comments.

I’ve got the Official Kamado Joe Licensed cover. I live in a city with 4 very distinct seasons. Many sunny, many very snowy…

    1. My cover is very grey? Why should I care?

    2. Why do I even need the cover? This thing is build strong as an ox! Is the snow/rain/sun going to cause any issues for me in the long run?

  26. Far-Translator1963

It’s 60-70 euros in Europe. Buy 2 of ‘em that you can cover the 1st with the 2nd

  27. LividTradition8190

I’m in Southern Arizona and my KJ cover is neither bleached out or deteriorated from the brutal sun we experience.

  28. Rosebudteg

I’ve been tracking how often I purchase a cover. I always try to cautiously take off the cover so as to not rip holes in it.

Lasts about two years. At the two year mark I can poke holes in it with my finger pressing gently.

  29. 2 1/2 years, not gray, no holes. I give it a shake everytime I use the grill to get rid of the dust.

  30. Mine is after only 3 months severely faded as well. Some “shadow” spots are still black and other spots are grey. I informed (not even asking for a new one) kamado joe support, they offered a new one free of charge.

  31. RonchoQuevo

Agreed it us a good shape after 3 years of harsh Canadian winters and significant neglect 😀

  32. Hondalol1

Yea to all those saying it didn’t happen to them, it does still happen, ours looks like ass. It has been pretty grey since about 10 months, we don’t have holes but it does have fraying, have had it a little over 2 years now, meanwhile the generic black stone cover we have is still deep black.

  33. Man they want 69 dollars for a half of a grill grate that’s crazy. The cover is a decent price atleast
