I have heard of this new Jeni's flavor but never seen it in stores. That changed today when I spotted it at Target in CA. It says on the container that this is a Target exclusive flavor, which I was not aware of. I attached a picture of the flavor description on the second slide, and the third and fourth slides are pictures of the actual ice cream.
I went into this assuming it would taste like a watermelon sour patch candy. That didn't end up being an accurate assumption. The first flavor that I got was a sweet-ish watermelon taste, followed by a slight tartness that quickly turned into a very tangy finish.
Notice on the flavor description it says "bouncy character from cultured buttermilk and fresh yogurt". I thought these were added for texture, but they actually took over the entire flavor profile. The texture itself was nice, smooth and soft while still remaining dense. But it tasted more like a strong greek yogurt than it does ice cream.
Was this ice cream bad? No. But I wouldn't get it again. It wasn't very sour or sweet, and I was hoping for both (because that's what a sour watermelon candy tastes like). You can tell it's watermelon, but the dominant flavor is a slightly tart (mostly tangy) greek yogurt.

I just tried it at a Jenni’s shop, I liked it.
Well that sucks. My target doesn’t carry Jenis. I can only find their brand at whole foods or Safeway.
I saw this was a new flavor and have been dying to try it but cannot find it anywhere! So thanks for sharing, it’s good to know what it’s like. I was also expecting it to be really tangy.

I came here just for this! Thank you for the review, I was hoping for an artificial flavor similar to well, watermelon taffy. It sounds like they tried to make it with less artificial flavors
