An open date has been revealed for the new restaurant taking over the former All Bar One in Birmingham.

Cylla will be a Greek restaurant in the Cornwall Buildings on Newhall Street in the Colmore Business District.

Described as being a ‘seamless blend of Greek cuisine and contemporary gastronomy’, Cylla will open to the public for the first time on Monday, July 14.

Cylla was announced as the replacement for All Bar One back in January and was initially expected to open in the spring.

In a statement, it says it intends to offer ‘a seamless blend of Greek cuisine and contemporary gastronomy’.

Named after the Greek sea monster Scylla, it will feature a bespoke six-metre bar, ambient lighting and a menu of Mediterranean classics including lamb kleftiko, beef stifado, moussaka, tzatziki and fresh homemade pitta bread and greek salad.

The drinks list will feature premium Greek wines and Mediterranean-inspired cocktails using ingredients such as mastiha.

The restaurant’s interior has been designed to include ‘subtle references to Greek architecture’ within the Grade II-listed Cornwall Buildings.

Adonis Maniadakis, general manager of Cylla, said: “I’m thrilled to be opening Cylla, and to be able to share my Greek heritage with the city of Birmingham.

“We want to deliver a really unique experience to our guests, which transports them to the shores of the Greek Islands.

“Cylla is an elevated take on traditional Greek cuisine – we’ve created a touch of glamour whilst retaining the authentic flavours and warmth of Greek hospitality.

“We can’t wait to welcome the first guests through our doors at the Cornwall Buildings – see you soon!”

Matt Pazos, the retail commercial manager for Bruntwood SciTech, which manages the Cornwall Buildings, said: “Cylla makes a fantastic addition to the historical Cornwall Buildings – a space steeped in heritage and charm – as well as being a real coup for Birmingham’s culinary scene.

“We look forward to seeing Cylla make its mark in the bustling Colmore Business District over the coming months with its innovative approach to fine dining.”
