Planted one this year to accompany my jalapeños and habaneros for salsas.

Man I struggle with poblanos! Last year I bought a 6-cell tray from the hardware store and none of them did great, while the jalapeños exploded. This year I’m growing like a dozen different varieties, and again the poblanos are lackluster! Zero pods yet, very few buds, plants are tall and gangly. Again, the jalapeños are doing great, tons of HHW pods, a bunch of cayennes, but no poblanos 🙁 send me your poblano luck!

I planted five this year! I have indigestion issues eating most green peppers and usually have to wait for them to turn red or their destination color. But poblanos I do well with!

Perfect base for making green hot sauces

I’m not much for the fresh chili but dried poblano (Ancho) is my preferred flavor profile in my Mexican cooking.

Poblanos are the reason I don’t bother with bell pepper.

Water is one less is more for them. I usually have to tie them to a stake because they get more leggy in the same soil as the other peppers (same sun, I don’t get it). I go easier on every nutrient, every fresh soil dump… just everything.

I have 5 of these because I love making stuffed peppers. Having trouble getting them to grow large as they are at the store. Any suggestions?

A staple in my house along with jalapeños. And scotch bonnets of course

Hope you have the patience to let them ripen!
