Hit The Modern last night for the first time and had a great experience.

The eggs on eggs on eggs dish absolutely delivers on its hype, and would be a great dish at any restaurant in the world.

The mikan madai was interesting, the fish itself was fine but the broth was really excellent. Like slurp the bowl excellent.

They had a choice of the lobster that was on the menu or a cappalletti supplement, I stuck with the lobster because of the cappalletti is that great then put it on the actual menu.

The lamb was strong, with the cherry sauce really adding a great touch.

There was a desert that I forgot to snap a pic of before I ate it and it was mango on sticky rice and it was really excellent.

The wine pairing was also great and they did some interesting things, including pairing the lobster with a red which is unusual but worked well.

Overall, this was an excellent dinner with great service, I give it a strong recommend.

Eggs on eggs on eggs is as good as they say. A must try for anyone who hasn’t.

They just do good solid cooking over there. Particularly innovative? Not really. But they do the fundamentals well and add their own touch to it. Add in meal service for both lunch and dinner and easy to get reservations? I’m going back easily.

The Modern has been excellent for such a long time. I think I ate there for the first time back around 2008 or so and it was fantastic. Still going strong.

Also, I just wanted to say, the restaurant really does itself a disservice photo wise with the lighting. Most of these dishes had a lot more pop in person. The lobster dish in particular was really colorful and I don’t think the photo does it justice.
