I once made some hard-boiled eggs. They were done but they did not have a real pronounced smoke flavor to them. But they were good. They weren’t too dry like normal hard-boiled eggs can be. I smoked them for 2 hours and after the 1st hour I flipped them.

Interesting idea. I wonder if you would get a more pronounced smoke flavor if you soft boil them first and remove the shell to finish on the smoker?

  2. That is such an expensive and slow way to cook the same egg you can get in 10 minutes.

Smoking eggs in the shell is like smoking a brisket tightly wrapped in foil

Ive done it a few times in my old Good-One Marshal . It was a charcoal burner offset. I used pecan wood for flavor.

Set egg cartons on the side overnight, it helps center the yolk. Hard-boil, peel. I have always put them on while still warm. Put on non stick foil or very well greased grate. Smoke for about 30-45 minutes. Much longer and they can start to get leathery on the outside.

Not really worth firing up a grill, but if you are already on a long smoke, fun to ‘add in’ around the big cuts. The make awesome deviled eggs. For Xtra goodness, in place of paprika, sprinkle with ground chipotle.

If your eggs come out dry when you boil them it’s because you’re overcooking them.

These are great! If you want more smoke, do them like this first, then peel, chill, and put back on the smoker. I think they are delicious – I use them for deviled eggs for friends who don’t eat bacon.

I do this with one single egg for Passover because I’m already smoking lamb, it’s actually not bad but kind of a waste to do this for just eggs.

Bud, if you cook eggs in your smoker, they are not hard boiled. Also if your hard boiled eggs are dry, it means you over cooked them, it’s not the method you used. If you overcook them on your smoker, they’ll be dry too.

One of the best things I’ve ever eaten was smoked eggs that were in the smoker alongside a very large turkey. I recommended that friends try smoking them but they never have turned out as good as that day.

I don’t know what the secret was and I just got my first pellet grill so I’m planning to try to dive into that

it’s well known that pellet smokers aren’t the best for having pronounced smoked flavor.

After hard boiling them in an insta pot, I don’t think I’ll ever use anything else again if I don’t have to. Too quick and done just right.
