I made budae jjigae today. I'm Korean local. Try using my recipe. The point is to grind kimchi and make a sauce.

    The way I made it:

    1. Slice green onion, onion, cabbage (or napa cabbage), and spicy green chili. Lay them at the bottom of a pot.
    2. Cut Spam and tofu into rectangles and place them on top.
    3. Slice frank sausages long and thin for texture.
    4. Add bite-sized pieces of bacon. (You can also add any ham you like.)
    5. Soak rice cakes (tteok) and macaroni in water beforehand, then add them.
    6. Add one big spoonful of baked beans.
    7. Sauce (blend together): 100g kimchi + 1 tbsp gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes) + 2 tbsp minced garlic + 1 tbsp soy sauce + 1 tbsp anchovy sauce + 1/2 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste).
    8. Pour in beef bone broth (or just water if you don’t have it).
    9. Once it starts to boil, add instant ramen noodles and a slice of cheddar cheese. Let it simmer and enjoy.

The steam coming out after that bite, I felt that. I “hsshaaafsshafsshaa” in sympathy.

How long do you soak the rice cakes for? Can I just throw them in instead?
