Turkish Sumac Onions


The perfect condiment for grilled meats or mezze, this Turkish sumac onion salad has thinly sliced red onions tossed with tangy sumac, fresh parsley and bright lemon juice.

We’re cooking good things with Peran Suns Farms this summer and on the menu is a Mediterranean inspired lettuce wrap that is crisp, fresh, and full of flavor. The base is a lemon yogurt marinated chicken with warm spices and fresh herbs. Once you get a good sear in the chicken, let it rest and then slice right before serving. But the true star of the show are these quick pickled sumac onions that I make all throughout the summer. Thinly sliced red onions are tossed with tangy sumac, fresh lemon juice, and chopped parsley. The sumac pickled onions stay crisp and tart and make the perfect addition to these chicken lettuce wraps. How good does that look?
