Dont know what happend to my text.

I saw someone post their Purple Tomato cross on Friday, and it inspired me to share mine. I crossed a Norfolk Purple with a Green F1 I grew last year. That Green F1 was a cross of Rebel Starfighter VT16 and Great White. It tasted and looked just like VT16, but its shape was a little more rounded than heart-shaped. I used the Norfolk Purple as the pollinator.

I started three seeds using the red cup method, and all three were healthy and grew quickly. The fruits are about 1.5 to 2 inches, and they go from a pale green with a dark green top to a pink/purple blush, then to a dark purple, and finally almost black, a really dark brown. The coolest part is that the seed gel is green! It looks awesome seeing the purple and green together. The last picture is a comparison of my cross to the original Norfolk Purple.

Taste-wise, I like it way more than the Norfolk Purple; it’s definitely sweeter. The only downside is that the skin is kinda thick, and I get it stuck in my teeth every time I eat them. All in all, I’d grow them again! Since I only have room for two tomato plants on my balcony, I think I’ll try growing an F2 next year just to see what happens.
