How to make homemade cilantro pesto.
again. Okay, it’s recording. Okay, we are going to make some cilantro pesto. What we have here, the ingredients, we have some extra dry, clean cilantro. We’ll open those up in a second. We have some roasted cashews, some garlic, some lemon juice, parmesan cheese, olive oil, and salt. We’re not using any pepper because my daughter’s allergic to pepper, but you can add pepper if you want. You can add hot peppers if you want. First thing you have to do is clean your cilantro. Make sure it’s nice and clean. Then you have to dry it. Make sure it’s nice and dry. You don’t get any extra liquid in there. These have all been cleaned and dried. And there’s about pack probably two cups worth of uh cilantro. This is a food processor. You’re going to first put all of our cilantro into the food processor. Just like that. Make sure you pull out any dead or dried yellowing uh leaves of cilantro when you while you’re cleaning it. Anything that looks questionable, just take it out. Okay, next thing we’re going to do, we’re going to add the nuts, our roasted cashews. You can use any kind of nuts. You could use sunflower, the inside of sunflower seeds called papitas. Um uh walnuts, uh almonds, pine nuts is is uh particularly Italian, you can use those. Any kind of nuts really. Add your garlic and the juice of one lemon. This was a pretty big lemon. have a lot of juice. So, you might want to add the juice of two lemons and you just put it. Um, what I do to start it off with, I just pulse it a little bit, get it kind of mixed up in there, and then uh, let’s start adding the olive oil. Got about a cup of olive oil here. You may not need to use the whole cup. You may have to use more than the whole cup. It depends on how you like it. Whether you like it drier or whether you like it wetter. I’m just going to pulse it a little bit more. You have to take it down periodically. You know, scrape the sides. Make sure you get it all down in there. Add some more olive oil. It’s a little dry. Looks like we’re going to use the whole cup. This thing is really loud. We’re going to add some salt and then we’re going to have to test it for see if we need any more salt. That looks like just about it. You want to test it? Sure. See if what you want more of or less of or see how it Seems like it needs to be blended more. More blending. Yeah, we could do that. I mean, unless there’s there’s some chunky in it. I like the the nuts. But people might like that. Like whoever likes chunky peanut butter will probably like that consistency right there. Sure. That’s that’s the thing with with pesto. You could pretty much do anything you want with it. Now, can you cook can you make this in something else besides this food processor? You could put it in a blender. Um I haven’t tried it with a um immersion blender, but that would probably work if you don’t have anything else. Um, but those are typically the the two uh this food processors or blenders and and you put um I’m not sure how much garlic you put, but does it does it matter on how much you does it all depend on? You could put a ton of garlic. If you love garlic, you could put a ton of garlic in there. You know, it just depends on your own taste. Of course, if you’re going to feed a bunch of people, I don’t think you want to put a ton of garlic, but you might. It It doesn’t really matter. It’s very customizable. You don’t even have to use cilantro. You could use the same ingredients with uh parsley and make a more of an Italian pesto. Okay, I’m going to uh grind it up. See if we can get it smoother. You’ll want to edit the sound quite a bit. It’s very loud. It might not be that bad once we hear it. Okay, let me get Is there anything that you can tell us that’s particularly um good about cilantro in eating it? What it can do for our bodies? Well, besides being really flavorful and they say it it detoxes the body for heavy metals, stuff like that. Supposed to be really good for you with the cilantro pesto. I’m not sure about the uh parsley pesto, but with cilantro pesto, it’s detoxes for heavy metal. Good. It’s I love cilantro. So, this is so good. Is it good? You want more salt? Enough salt. It seems fine. And enough cheese. Perfect. Then we’re done here. We’ve got it. Let’s we want to uh what you want to do to store this obviously is in the refrigerator. You can well first of all you could serve it mainly over noodles. Any kind of noodles that you like. Um if you like rice noodles that’s fine. You could serve it over that. Regular noodles, spaghetti noodles, any kind of noodles that you want to put it on will be great. I bought these noodles. These work edamame noodles. Spaghetti noodles. I’ve never had them, but I’m sure it would. I’m sure it’ll be great on that. Let me just get this mess out of the way here. And uh for now I think we’ll try and see how how much is in here. Let’s see if we’ve got a a jar. I think it’ll fit in here. No, it might might take a little larger jar. But you can see the consistency is pretty nice. Just barely made it there. We’ll get the rest of this in there. Look at that. And that was uh two bunches of cilantro cleaned. Um, you could use as many bunches of cilantro as you want. You just get a larger, you know, batch. Just make sure you put it in a larger container, too. There you go. All right. This right here. This spoonful right here belongs to cook. Clean this up a little. I have a lid that we could put on this. Put that in the fridge till it’s ready to be used. That’s it. Really good. I love it. Delicious. And so you could put it on noodles and then maybe add some tomato, little tomatoes, cherry tomatoes. Sure, why not? Do it. Like I said, it’s really customizable. You could do anything you want. Maybe even some sauteed mushrooms with it. Sure, why not? It’s really, really, really customizable. You can do whatever you want with it. Add some shrimp or chicken. I prefer chicken, of course. Yeah, that would be great. It would taste great. Anything like that. Well, we’ll have to do another video of that when we use it. Yeah, it’s very good. Well, thank you so much for showing us.
