I just joined this sub and have seen some amazing ways to eat sardines and other canned fish/seafood. My go-to looks boring compared to some of the posts I see here. I have always had sardines with all or some combination of crackers, toast or toasted baguette, cheese and a dab of hot sauce. Or I’ll e extra boring and just eat them plain.
What is your favorite way to eat, prepare or use sardines?

Sour cream, dill, lemon
Ginger and soy sauce
Aardvark hot sauce is the best! Always have a tube of that in my fridge.
My go-to is very basic/simple: Cracker + sardine + either horseradish mustard or sriracha hot sauce depending on what flavor (if any) the sardines are.
With a fork.
I will sometimes have sardines with other food, but honestly I like sardines so much because I can just crack a can and eat them with no prep. So my favorite way is just open a can and start eating.
In pasta with tomato sauce; with mayo, cheese and pickles in sandwich; with breakfast eggs and a healthy splash of hot sauce.
I have 2 favorites: charcuterie style with cheese, nuts, olives, bread or crackers and fruit, and I love them in spicy tomato sauce over rice with capers and hummus.
The [Avocado Toast with Sherried Sardines](https://altonbrown.com/recipes/avocado-toast-with-sardines/) is a super simple yet absolutely delicious recipe that originally got me into eating tinned fish. Worth a try for those who have not had this.
I also really enjoy rice bowls with some combination of brown rice, cucumber, avocado, kimchi, boy choy, sesame seeds, chili crisp and tinned fish. Super healthy and a lunch staple for me when working from home.

I have never tried anything other than out the can with some hot sauce and maybe a cracker or two id I have them.
Red onion, fresh dill, oregano, paprika,Cheyenne pepper
No shame in eating them plain!
My favourite way to eat sardines looks a lot like yours. I like to make a snack plate with stuff like crackers, cheese, fresh or pickled veggies, perhaps a salad if I have some, and various dips/sauces.
Crack can, add layer of stone ground mustard across the top, grab fork
On pizza!
A little eccentric for breakfast but enjoyable:
Toasted half croissant or bread with a generous spread of hummus topped with canned sardines.
A more “civilized” meal:
Mediterranean inspired salad: arugula, sweet bell pepper, cucumber, tomato, olives, salad dressing made using the oil from the can + brine from the olives, topped with canned sardines
Absolute goblin core but I love this so much:
Baked russet potato + mayonnaise + ungodly amount of black pepper + canned sardine on top
I appreciate all the creative preparations I see here too, but I keep it simple because I’m lazy. 😆 I put canned fish (mostly sardines, mackerel, salmon and occasional tuna) on a variety of crackers or toasted baguette and top with pickle relish, pickled onion, and/or different vinegars (sherry and balsamic are favorites). Sometimes I spread the crackers first with butter or cream cheese.
My favorite way is hands down on a saltine with crystal hot sauce. But that tin specifically is one of my favorites right now, I just grab them out of the can with chopsticks!
In the dark in the middle of the night, over my sink. Lemon wedge if I’m feeling fancy.
