WASHINGTON (7News) — Bastille Day is a French national holiday dating back to the 1700s.

Often referred to as French National Day, the holiday commemorates the Storming of the Bastille, and subsequent unity of the French people. Chef de Cuisine at La Vie Aseem Charan joined Good Morning Washington on Monday to share how they’re marking the occasion.

La Vie is an upscale Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, lounge and event space on the waterfront in Washington, D.C., known for curated menus and exciting cocktails. Chef Charan draws inspiration for flavors and dishes from what he calls “the bounty of the Mediterranean”.

To celebrate Bastille Day, La Vie is offering a seafood tower and platter. And starting today, La Vie is welcoming guests for 50% off local seafood towers and select beverages every Monday this summer.

Charan hopes to create a restaurant environment centered around “coming together and enjoying a wonderful meal at the table, with a beautiful view,” he says.
