E-Mart announced on the 16th that it will present the industry’s first “Wine Picking” event from the 17th to the 31st.
The event was an extension of the existing beer-oriented pick-and-dish promotion to wine, and the event was planned by noting that demand for ultra-cheap wines is increasing at high prices.
At the wine selection event, you can freely choose three bottles of 25 wines ranging from 7,800 won to 15,800 won and purchase them for a total of 20,000 won. The average price per bottle is about 6,700 won, which means you can enjoy wine at up to half the price.
This wine selection event is attracting attention in that it is the first in the large discount store industry. In the industry, liquor selection events are mainly held in beer, and promotions at general wine shops often sell two wines as a set, so customer options were limited.
It prepared a number of fresh wines such as sparkling and white wine in hot weather, and expanded customer choices by including wines from various regions such as France, Chile, and Australia. The flagship product is “Spirit Velvet Blanc (750ml), a sparkling wine. It is a French wine that is mentioned as a sacred place for wine, and the taste is not too sweet, so it boasts a fresh throat. In the case of Australian red wine “Groworth Gate Cabernet Sauvignon (750ml), the average selling price abroad is about 15,000 won, which is lower than half the price at E-Mart.
Before planning the event, E-Mart noted that demand for ultra-low-priced wine was increasing due to high prices and polarization consumption. In fact, as of the first half of this year, wine sales of less than 10,000 won in E-Mart rose more than 50% compared to the same period last year. Accordingly, the selection event was applied to wine, greatly increasing the discount range experienced by customers.
“As the high price trend continues, we will plan a wine selection event for the first time in the industry where customers can drink various wines at a low price,” said Ko A-ra, a wine buyer at E-Mart. “In the future, E-Mart will provide new customer experiences as well as reasonable prices so that more customers can enjoy benefits.”
