A Mediterranean menu in Belfast isn’t something you’d normally expect so I had to give it a goI got the chance to taste the Mediterranean menu at the AC Marriott Hotel Belfast (Image: Belfast Live)

The AC Marriott in Belfast has been open for 7 years this summer and to celebrate I was invited down to try their menu that has been created by world famous chef Jean-Christophe Novelli.

The Masterchef Australia judge has created a Mediterranean menu that I was told was full of delights. I will say that Belfast isn’t the first place you think of when you hear Mediterranean but it definitely peaked my interest.

The AC Marriott has become a beacon in Belfast that sits right along the lagan river. The first thing I noticed about it when I first visited was the incredible terrace that would definitely be brilliant during the good weather. Although it’s rare we get it, it is always nice to have a spot to head to.

The menu was presented to us in a really great way that I’d not seen before. It was like an elevated buffet style and first up was the charcuterie section of the menu with a massive selection of cheese, cured meats, dips, crackers and bread. There was so much to choose from but as a man who loves bread this was honestly brilliant.

The pork meatballs were definitely a highlight for me from the menu

The cheese croquettes deserved their own shout out in my eyes. This was honestly one of the best croquettes I’ve ever had in my life. The taste was great and something I’d go back for on their own.

A few other highlights from the menu for me were the pork meatballs that were in a bed of tomato sauce topped with parmesan. I also really enjoyed the chorizo, feta and red onion skewers, I always go for something that has chorizo and this did not disappoint at all.

The tuna tartlets were another stand out for me

Something that I noticed while I was out exploring the terrace was that they have their own coffee airstream that is available to the public 5 days a week. It is operated by Belfast Coffee Co. and I loved seeing a local coffee brand being supported and celebrated here.

I really enjoyed this spot and it definitely offers something we typically don’t find in Belfast often. You can really tell that a world class chef has been heavily involved in creating this menu and ensuring that the standards in this restaurant stay world class.
